From Stakeholder Maps to Action: Bringing Food Is Medicine to Life in Florida

A stakeholder map comes to life when people get to work together.

We’re proud to celebrate Nichole Dube, who shared Access to Fresh’s story at the Florida Food Is Medicine Symposium’s “Florida Stakeholder Tables: Meet the Regional Leaders” panel.

Alongside fellow Regional Network of Excellence Co-Chairs from Florida Health and Nutrition Coalition, Nichole explored how regional leaders are bringing together teams of doers—connecting local experience with the Milken Institute Feeding Change research on Food Is Medicine stakeholder partnerships.

Her perspective is grounded in the work: growing food, listening to communities and building relationships that have helped Access to Fresh source and deliver more than 1 million servings of fresh food.

The insights she brought to the table:

🤝 Relationships turn shared goals into action. Farmers, healthcare organizations, schools and community groups bring different capabilities. Connecting them around local needs creates opportunities to do more together.

🌱 Growing demand needs a dependable supply. Expanding Food Is Medicine requires investment in the aggregation, processing, cold storage and distribution that help regional growers—including regenerative farmers—reach new markets.

💚 Community voices help shape what comes next. Programs and infrastructure must reflect the people they serve. Nichole’s leadership of Pasco County Government’s established, county-supported Food Policy Advisory Council helps bring those perspectives into planning.

That’s the opportunity we see for Pasco County: connecting people, produce and programs through partnerships to build healthier, more resilient communities.

Thank you to the panel’s regional leaders and everyone helping turn stakeholder tables into working teams.
