When food brings joy, that joy, in community, is powerful

“When food brings joy, that joy, in community, is powerful.” 💛

Our co-founder Nichole Dube’s words capture the heart of Access to Fresh: building community through food. This illustration from The Food Dignity Movement brings that belief to life.

The United Nations designated 2026 the International Year of the Woman Farmer—an opportunity to recognize women’s contributions to our food systems and address the barriers they face in accessing resources and opportunities.

For us, that recognition is personal. Nichole brings the experience of a farmer, operator, and community builder to Access to Fresh every day.

Hear that perspective in her conversation with Clancy Harrison about supporting growers and the people connecting communities with fresh food. 🎧

Nichole joins Clancy Harrison, founder of the Food Dignity® Movement, for an honest conversation about the challenges and possibilities of community food systems, including:

🥕 Closing gaps in access to fresh, quality produce.
🌱 Supporting small growers and the organizations connecting them with communities.
🤝 Giving direct service operators the funding and resources to sustain their work.

At Access to Fresh, we pair recurring access to locally sourced produce with opportunities to grow, cook, learn, and connect. Making those experiences possible takes committed farmers, community partners, and investment in the people doing the work.
