This week, I am reminded how this all works together and change is not just possible it is happening in our community 💚
THANK YOU AdventHealth West Florida and AdventHealth for an incredible event Sunday and sponsoring a ‘Farmacy’ stop where everyone picked up a bag with 6 servings of fruits and vegetables– 400 people received 2400 servings of FRESH fruits and vegetables🥕 🍎 🍌
HUGE thank you to the Pasco County Government and Florida Commission on the Status of Women for the opportunity to speak today on a panel during the women uplifting women event! Lauren Miceli thank you for your support and encouraging me to share my dreams, vision and plans with anyone who will listen 💚 –The panel was another first for me and after the initial jitters and some reminders from some pretty incredible women that my story will inspire others and I should be on stage– I settled in and was comfortable 💚
Thank you Kathryn Starkey, Nikki Alvarez, and Effie Santos for sharing your inspiring stories and to my other panelist Michelle James – Bradley, LLM and Kelly Johnson for such impactful insights on balancing it all and well being!
Here are a few other stories worth mentioning from last week as they have had such a profound impact on me…
Mustard seed of faith- We at Access to Fresh have a vision for a healthier, connected community and a mission to build it through food and education. I was reminded of the mustard seed of faith that is needed to keep showing up, learning, executing, but most importantly slowing down to be guided to what is next.
Side Note: Literally a mustard seed in a jar was given to me by one of my SNAP customers, because we doubled her dollars and she had $21 left for the month. She left our farm with a HUGE box of produce because we can DOUBLE SNAP $$. Her message to me…’Remember, THIS was started with a mustard seed of faith and that is what you need to remember and keep going.’
‘THIS’ is about a holistic approach to food and it takes a collaborative effort to get it done. The food system is made up of a variety of parts. Which includes all processes and infrastructure involved in feeding a population. The term food system describes the interconnected systems and processes that influence nutrition, food, health, community development, and agriculture.
Thank you Homegrown Hillsborough Monica Petrella, Dhalia Bumbaca, MBA and Savannah Bennett for this perfect definition:
As we work towards something BIG, I am reminded by the keynote from Effie Santos, that it is important to pause daily, to reflect on how far we have come and to be guided on the next steps. 🦋 💚
